Fully Guided Elk Pack-in Hunts
On a fully guided WCOA hunt, you will experience a true wilderness pack-in adventure with top-notch guides, wranglers, and cooks. These camps will be located between 4,200 and 7,500 feet above sea level and are most often combined with whitetail, mule deer, black bear, and mountain lion. Riding stock is used in all fall hunts, however some areas will be hunted on foot. Everything is furnished except hunter's personal gear and licenses. The primitive Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness is rugged and you should keep in mind that hunting is a physical sport and one should be in good health. On the first three hunts, our guides use bugling skills to bring in the bulls. The Selway is one of the few areas left in the United States where rifles are allowed during the bugle season. To have the opportunity to listen to a bull elk thrashing and bugling in peak rut will undoubtedly make the hair stand up on the back of your neck! Our late October and early November hunts have become more and more popular as this is an ideal time for hunting trophy bulls. The record book mule deer and whitetail bucks are in the rut which puts the odds in your favor. The weather is generally colder and the snow becomes an essential element for tracking and game movement. All guided camps are based 10-17 miles into the backcountry on mule-back and have spike options 6-12 miles further into the wilderness. All of the backcountry camps are primitive wall tent style camps, comfortable yet simple. Fall guided combination hunt dates:
