Mountain Lion - OverviewImagine 1.3 million acres of steep rugged mountain terrain. Compound this vision with a diversity of habitat and hard-to-access terrain and you'll begin to understand why Idaho County and the Selway Bitterroot Wilderness has produced more record book entry mountain lions than any other one place. These are wild cats with huge territories where less than 1% of the area has road access. With all that said, new F&G regulations have given us longer seasons, 2 lions per hunter, and reduced non resident tag prices in an effort to bring the predator and prey back into balance. Although we boast a high success rate (80% -90% on most years) these are not guaranteed hunts. Winter weather conditions and demanding terrain will play a role in your success. Of the more than 100 lion hunters we have guided, each will tell you that we want you to kill a lion on your trip. Should you be unable to harvest on your first trip, we continue our policy of making affordable and fair accommodations to bring you back to take care of your unfinished business in the Selway.
